[expand title=”Field Trip”  notitle=”true” tag=”paragraph”]

A field trip was also offered on April 4 to three facilities employing membrane filtration treatment technology:

Guilford Commons: a facility installed in 2016 employing a membrane filtration system, with recycling of wastewater to toilets and urinals. This project is known locally as “the rock pile” and has lateral sand filters to transmit the effluent.

66 High Street: this facility was constructed in 2017-2018 at a new residential development and employs top-of-the-line membrane filtration technology. It is located at the clean-up of an industrial site and close to a wetland. Septic and EQ tanks are installed in the groundwater. The membrane filtration tanks are above ground and the inside of the tanks can be seen. Treated wastewater is used to clean the membranes.

Westbrook Outlet: a facility installed over twenty years ago, also employing a membrane filtration system and with recycling of wastewater to toilets and urinals. Attendees were able to compare two very similar facilities, installed 20+ years apart, to see how the technology has evolved.
