Susan J. Sullivan

Susan joined NEIWPCC in 1989. In July 2017, she accepted the position of executive director after serving as the deputy director for twenty years. She coordinates and helps implement regional and state policies and programs, manages contracts and grants, and provides overall supervision of NEIWPCC’s staff and office operations. Susan serves in a leadership capacity with many water-related organizations, including the Association of Clean Water Administrators (ACWA), the Water Environment Federation (WEF) and the New England Water Environment Association (NEWEA). She holds an M.S. in Environmental Science from the New Jersey Institute of Technology. [Full bio]

Sarita Croce

Sarita oversees NEIWPCC’s work related to source water protection, contaminants of emerging concern, and quality assurance. Sarita serves as the project officer for the Lake Champlain Basin Program and supervises grants and funding for initiatives across Vermont, New York, and the province of Quebec. She also oversees NEIWPCC’s efforts in the Hudson River and its estuary. Sarita joined NEIWPCC in January of 2023, and holds a bachelor’s in chemical engineering from the University of Rochester, and has completed graduate coursework in environmental management and biotechnology from Bentley University and Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Richard Friesner

Richard joined NEIWPCC in 2016 as Director of Water Quality Programs. He works on a variety of projects including wetlands, monitoring, water quality standards, nutrients, TMDLs, harmful algal blooms, and others. He serves as the NEIWPCC representative on the Management Committee for the Long Island Sound Study and has worked on technical nutrient related assessment work with the United States Geological Survey (USGS). Richard joined NEIWPCC with 10 years of experience in the environmental science and policy field including work in private consulting and at the USGS. He continues to direct the Washington Youth Summit on the Environment at George Mason University. Richard holds a Ph.D. in environmental science and public policy from George Mason University, an M.S. and B.S in environmental science from the University of Kansas. [Full bio]

Samantha (James) Thompson

Samantha began her NEIWPCC career as the Meeting and Events Planner in November 2016. As the Business Operations Division Director, Samantha coordinates and plans NEIWPCC conferences and Commission meetings, maintains office and information technology operations and equipment, and supervises administrative support and events staff. In addition, she provides executive support to the Executive Director. Samantha holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Salem State University. [Full bio]

Amy Magin

As director of communications, Amy provides leadership for NEIWPCC’s communications mission and strategy. She manages the creation and production of print and digital publications and other collateral materials; guides the maintenance and design of the NEIWPCC website and online media; and oversees the communications support of NEIWPCC’s programmatic divisions’ marketing and outreach initiatives. Amy holds a master’s in mass communication from Boston University, and a bachelor’s in English from the State University of New York at Geneseo.

Christina Stringer

Christina oversees NEIWPCC’s work related to wastewater management, regional environmental training, environmental professional certification, onsite/decentralized wastewater, and underground storage tanks. She manages the development and revision of technical guidance documents related to wastewater, and serves as the technical adviser on program issues. Christina joined NEIWPCC in June 2018 as part of the Water Resource Protection division, and transitioned to her current position in January of 2021. She earned her Ph.D. in Geology from the University of South Florida. [Full bio]

Lucia Walker

Lucia joined NEIWPCC in 2018 as Assistant Comptroller and was promoted to Comptroller in February 2020. She oversees the fiscal department, managing all financial affairs including budgets and forecasts, financial analysis, and financial planning. She also directs the annual audit process and oversees NEIWPCC’s financial policies, procedures, and internal controls. Lucia is a Certified Public Accountant and received her bachelor of accounting from Merrimack College.
