Pollution Control

We support the work of our states to regulate and reduce water pollution throughout the region.

This includes the administration of discharge permits that limit point-source pollution from sewers and factories, and the development of pollution budgets to regulate nonpoint source pollution, which enters water bodies from runoff, from the air, and by other means.

NEIWPCC is playing a central role in the six-state effort to control nitrogen discharge into the Long Island Sound.

A Water Quality Standards workgroup deals with interstate water-quality issues.
