Providing accessible education and expert assistance for small, rural, and tribal wastewater systems.
NEIWPCC provides training and technical assistance to rural, small, and tribal wastewater treatment facilities to improve infrastructure performance, reduce water pollution, and support a cleaner and healthier environment. By pairing online access to training with direct technical assistance, we equip utilities with technical, financial, and managerial skills to sustainably operate, maintain, and manage their wastewater infrastructure and plan for future challenges.

Management School Support
NEIWPCC offers scholarships to select individuals participating in wastewater management school programs in its member states (New York and New England). We anticipate each scholarship will fully cover registration costs associated with management school attendance. Funds may be available for other management and leadership programs on a case-by-case basis. Staff of small, rural, and tribal systems are eligible for funding.
For more details and to apply, complete the application and submit it to Peter Zaykoski (pzaykoski@neiwpcc.org).
Technical Assistance
NEIWPCC provides personalized direct technical assistance based on the needs of each publicly owned treatment work. We provide each utility with in-person, site-specific outreach to help them evaluate and recommend improvements, and identify potential sources of funding to address needs.
NEIWPCC works with selected treatment plants on:
- Wastewater process optimization.
- Addressing collection system challenges.
- Preparing for nutrient and PFAS permit limits.
- Planning for enhanced preparedness for extreme weather events and natural hazards.
- Identification and planning for funding capital projects.
- Updating records.
Assistance is available for communities that run their own treatment facilities, as well as those that act as satellite systems, sending their wastewater to a neighboring plant.
