A training program designed to develop essential skills that propel candidates into wastewater management positions.

This year-long training program provides wastewater operators with professional development skills needed to enter leadership positions. Participants meet monthly for classroom instruction from, and networking opportunities with, professionals in state agencies, municipalities, academia, and consulting. Topics include leadership fundamentals, finance and budgeting, engineering design and contracting, permits and regulations, and treatment process monitoring, evaluation, and adjustment.

Program Application & Selection Process

The program is open to current managers and supervisors who wish to improve their management skills, as well as operators preparing to become candidates for future management or supervisory positions.

Candidates are encouraged to get their supervisor’s and facility’s support to apply. Attendance at each class is mandatory to complete the program and earn 72 training contact hours.  

The next application period will open in Summer 2025 with classes starting in Fall 2025.
