NEIWPCC’s annual report for fiscal year 2022 is now available. The report covers work that spanned from October 1, 2021 to September 30, 2022, highlighting continued coordination with the seven member states on issues related to NEIWPCC’s water program priorities:  

  • Contaminants of emerging concern/PFAS. 
  • Watershed planning and waterbody protection. 
  • Infrastructure and state revolving fund. 
  • Clean Water Act reauthorization. 
  • Training and certification. 

The report features a summary of NEIWPCC’s year-long celebration around its 75th anniversary and the 50th anniversary of the Clean Water Act (CWA). This included the production of a variety of multimedia content highlighting achievements and success through the decades, proclamations from four of the member states and all-staff meeting sessions exploring the history of NEIWPCC and the CWA. The report also features a condensed timeline, showing select clean water milestones from NEIWPCC’s history.  

Contents of the report are organized by NEIWPCC’s five interconnected areas of work: connections, protection, training, education and engagement. This work highlights NEIWPCC’s commitment to helping the Northeast preserve and advance clean water by supporting program partners and state environmental programs, as well as representing member states’ interests on important water quality issues to federal parties. 

NEIWPCC hosted numerous conferences in 2022. These included the Northeast Aquatic Biologists Conference, the 32nd Annual Nonpoint Source Conference, the National State Revolving Fund Workshop and the biannual National Tanks Conference. These were held in-person once again after several had transitioned to being held virtually last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  

The annual report also includes letters from Executive Director Susan Sullivan and Executive Committee Chair Peter LaFlamme; a summary of the quality management program activities; a breakdown of communications and outreach efforts; end-of-year data from the wastewater training program; and financial statements from NEIWPCC comptroller Lucia Walker.
