NEIWPCC has appointed Peter Zaykoski as the new program manager of the South Portland, Maine office, following the retirement of long-time manager Leeann Hanson.
Zaykoski has been with NEIWPCC since 2018, serving as an environmental analyst for the Hudson River Estuary Program and the Hudson River National Estuarine Research Reserve. In his new role, Zaykoski will oversee the day-to-day responsibilities of the South Portland office, manage the Joint Environmental Training Coordinating Committee (JETCC) training program, and act as coordinator for other programmatic activities. He will also continue serving as NEIWPCC’s quality assurance program manager.
“Peter has proven himself to be a critical thinker and an enthusiastic, dedicated and creative team-player,” said Susan Sullivan, NEIWPCC executive director. “His professional skills and accessible and flexible style will continue to inspire trust and confidence in the JETCC board and its volunteers, and the Northeast environmental community.”
Hanson had worked for NEIWPCC for more than 30 years, including serving as coordinator of the JETCC program. In that role, she helped to deliver numerous training courses pertinent to wastewater treatment and other environmental issues throughout the state. She also guided the non-point source training efforts and licensing and certification work.
“Leeann has been a guiding light for many of our Maine programmatic activities,” said Sullivan. “My continued thanks to her for many years of support and commitment to NEIWPCC. We wish her good health, happiness, and fun in her retirement.”
