Julia Anastasio, Esq., ACWA executive director and general counsel, presents NEIWPCC’S Richard Friesner with the Emerging Leaders Award during the ACWA annual meeting.

The Association of Clean Water Administrators (ACWA) honored Richard Friesner, NEIWPCC’s director of Water Quality Programs, with an Emerging Leaders Award at its recent annual meeting held in Memphis, Tennessee. The award recognized Friesner’s “notable leadership on or contributions to the work of an ACWA committee, task force, and/or workgroup, and show demonstrated potential for future leadership in the Association.”

Friesner, who joined NEIWPCC in 2016, brings more than fifteen years of environmental science and policy experience in the nonprofit, private, state, and federal sectors. He also serves on several committees and technical advisory groups, including the Association of Clean Water Administrators and the EPA’s Nitrogen Strategy for Long Island Sound.

“Richard is an invaluable team member, providing sound guidance and leadership on water quality and policy matters,” said Susan Sullivan, NEIWPCC’s executive director. “We congratulate him on this well-deserved award!”
