Environmental Analyst – Long Island Sound Regional Coordinator
Full-Time in Stony Brook, NY
NEIWPCC is seeking a full-time Environmental Analyst to serve as a regional coordinator for the Long Island Sound Partnership (LIS Partnership), assisting with the planning and implementation of activities and projects to restore and protect the water quality of the Long Island Sound.
What You’ll Do
As a NEIWPCC Environmental Analyst, you will:
- Work alongside internal and external partners and act in a coordinator capacity for addressing water quality issues related to pathogens, toxic contaminants and marine debris.
- Support the Clean Waters and Healthy Watersheds Work Group by tracking project effectiveness, identifying and addressing implementation gaps, and assisting in work group administration.
- Assist with the implementation of the LIS Partnership Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan (CCMP) objectives and provide grant and project support.
- Work with partners to develop a framework to identify hot spots of marine debris and track reductions, as well as develop a toxic action plan to evaluate gaps and needs related to potential mitigation approaches that LISP can undertake.
What You’ll Bring
The successful candidate will have a passion and interest in preserving and advancing water quality. Ideally the candidate will have:
- A bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences, natural science, earth science, biology, chemistry, or related field with three years of related experience.
- Knowledge and experience with project management as well as watershed management, pathogens, toxic contaminants, and marine debris.
- Experience working cooperatively with a broad range of stakeholders and the ability to facilitate and present at large meetings to a variety of audiences.
- Understanding of federal and state environmental laws and regulations related to LIS Partnership as well as basic knowledge of GIS is a plus.
Logistics
This full-time NEIWPCC position will work 7.5 hours per day and is based in Stony Brook, NY. Duties will be performed largely in an office setting. Position will require once a month travel to Albany and other occasional travel, for which a valid driver’s license and private means of transportation is required. After six months, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule, subject to approval and program needs.
Pay and Benefits
Anticipated annual salary range is $55,000 to $75,000. NEIWPCC offers an outstanding comprehensive benefits package for eligible employees:

Environmental Analyst – Source Water Specialist
Full-Time in Albany, NY
NEIWPCC is seeking a full-time Environmental Analyst to assist in implementing the Private Well PFAS Testing and Mitigation Rebate Program throughout New York State.
What You’ll Do
As a NEIWPCC Environmental Analyst you will:
- Support planning, administration, implementation, and evaluation of the Private Well PFAS Testing and Mitigation Rebate Program.
- Support outreach and education efforts for private well users, provide technical assistance to local partners.
- Develop and distribute fact sheets, toolkits, and other communication materials.
- Prepare internal and external program reports and presentations, and facilitate regular meetings of the Interagency Steering Committee that guides the program.
Preferred Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a passion and interest in preserving and advancing water quality. Ideally the candidate will have:
- A master’s degree in environmental sciences or related field, with related professional or technical experience.
- Experience distilling complex scientific and technical information to produce clear and concise messaging for the public.
- Knowledge of and experience with aspects of groundwater, hydrology, state and federal regulations, and watershed management.
- Experience with community outreach, stakeholder engagement, or communicating with the public about state and federal programs.
