Seeking multiple part-time Environmental Analysts to join our collaborative team for our wastewater training and technical assistance programs, which offer more than 100 training events annually and support communities throughout the Northeast.

In this role, you will:

• Prepare and deliver courses, seminars and trainings pertinent to wastewater treatment (topics may include chemistry, biology, microbiology, operations, lab procedures, and safety) in live-virtual, in-person, and self-paced formats.
• Support content development for new courses and updates to existing courses.
• Provide technical assistance to wastewater treatment plant operators at facility locations, including the assessment of operational problems and recommendation of process control, maintenance, and management changes to correct such problems.

Our ideal candidate will have a Professional Engineer license or Wastewater Operator’s Certification from a NEIWPCC Member State (CT, MA, ME, NH, NY, RI or VT) equivalent to Massachusetts Grade 4 or higher, with considerable experience in municipal or industrial wastewater treatment plant operations and maintenance. Previous experience providing training is preferred. Strong communication and presentation skills are needed.

Logistics
This is a part-time position, working an average of 20 hours per week with some flexibility, not to exceed 1,000 hours per year. Occasional in- and out-of-state daytime travel will be required, for which a valid driver’s license and private means of transportation are required. Occasional overnight travel may be requested. Duties will be performed in office and remote settings, with occasional site visits to industrial facility settings and roadside locations, requiring the use of protective gear and adherence to safety policy.

What We Offer
The anticipated hourly payrate will be $50. Benefits are not provided with the exception of Social Security, unemployment and workers’ compensation insurance, and the salary deferral portion of the 403(b)-retirement plan.

NEIWPCC is seeking a detail-oriented environmental analyst to assist in facilitating research, implementation, and planning of projects that address water quality and ecosystem challenges in the Lake Champlain Basin. Specific subject areas include nutrient reduction, flood resilience, water quality, aquatic invasive species, native species habitat, aquatic organism passage, stormwater management issues, environmental engagement, and cultural interpretation.

Job Duties:

• Support all aspects of grant management workflow: preparing Requests for Proposals, supporting grant application review, assisting with workplan and budget development, reviewing grant deliverables, tracking progress, communicating with applicants and grant recipients, and facilitating the final review of projects.
• Support the Clean Water team with office and meeting support, assist technical staff with field work, and collaborate with colleagues in other office locations to ensure timely project activities.
• Prepare technical data, analyses and reporting related to technical research, quarterly reporting, workshop presentations, and for use on our digital communications channels.
• Review Quality Assurance Project Plans that ensure high-quality environmental data.

Preferred Qualifications:

• A bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences, natural science, resource management, or related field, with coursework or passionate interest in Lake Champlain or relevant watershed issues.
• Three years of related technical or professional experience.
• Experience working with or managing grants.
• Strong attention to detail, the ability to maintain accurate records and excellent grammatical, organizational, and time-management skills.
• A proven team player with the ability to build collaborative relationships with partners.
• Excellent computer skills, particularly word processing, data management, and data analysis.

Position Logistics

Duties will be performed largely in an office setting, but may include outdoor field assignments, and will require travel to locations in Massachusetts, Vermont, New York and Quebec, for which a private means of transportation, a valid driver’s license, and a valid passport or enhanced license is required. After six months of employment, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule for in-office duties, subject to approval and program needs.
