Maine’s Management Candidate School is now inviting applications from water and wastewater operators with management potential for its class of 2027. This 11-month training program provides the intensive training, networking, and skill development coursework necessary to prepare the next generation of water and wastewater managers and leaders.
Participants must commit to attending monthly classes beginning in November at the Kennebec Water District in Waterville, complete course assignments including a student presentation, as well as participate in an operator exchange with another Maine facility. Course topics include leadership fundamentals, budget preparation, personnel management, and engineering basics and construction planning. The trainings are led by experienced professionals in Maine state agencies, leaders from municipal and district water and wastewater facilities, and consulting firms.
The program costs $1,100 per participant, and tuition assistance may be available through NEIWPCC’s Training and Technical Assistance Program. For more information and the program application, visit the program webpage. Applications are due on October 16.
Management Candidate School is a collaboration between the Joint Environmental Training Coordinating Committee (JETCC) – a NEIWPCC program partner – Maine’s Departments of Environmental Protection and Health and Human Services, the Maine Water Environment Association (MEWEA), and the Maine Water Utilities Association (MWUA).
