The annual Northeast Aquatic Biologists (NAB) Conference will take place in Westbrook, Connecticut, February 4-6, 2026. The event provides a forum for sharing knowledge, collaboration, and networking among the aquatic and environmental biologist community in the Northeast.
The agenda includes sessions from more than 50 speakers and 30 posters surrounding topics such as invasive plants, data management, emerging contaminants, diatoms, harmful algal blooms, and groundwater monitoring. This year, a pre-conference workshop is being offered to help practitioners develop/improve stills in macroinvertebrate identification. Led by Steven Burian, Ph.D., emeritus professor of aquatic entomology at Southern Connecticut State University, the workshop will focus on the family and genus level taxonomy of the Ephemeroptera, Plecoptera, and Trichoptera (EPT) and is offered for anyone involved in aquatic biomonitoring or natural history survey programs. The workshop requires advance registration and will be held on February 3 and 4.
Registration is open through January 16, and provides access to the interactive poster session showcasing innovative research, exhibitor hall, banquet, and social events. NAB is open to all, and attendees include participants from state, federal, tribal, and municipal governments; the private sector; academia; and watershed organizations from New England and New York.
The conference website hosts event updates and additional information, including a preliminary agenda and lodging details.
