Report Details Work Aligning with Engagement, Workforce Development, and Funding Critical Objectives

2021 NEIWPCC Annual Report Cover imageNEIWPCC’s annual report for fiscal year 2021 is available online. Our work during that period, which spanned Oct. 1, 2020 to Sept. 30, 2021, was marked by continued coordination with our member states around pivotal issues like environmental surveillance for COVID-19, wastewater cybersecurity, and PFAS monitoring and management.

The report highlights NEIWPCC’s work around the Northeast to help preserve and advance clean water, which included supporting program partners and state environmental programs, and representing our member states’ interests on important water quality issues to federal parties. The report uses our three critical objectives and strategic goals – which were established in 2020 – to categorize key projects and initiatives for the year.

One major accomplishment during fiscal year 2021 was pivoting to virtual conferences – a first for NEIWPCC – in response to the ongoing pandemic. A testament to our staff’s resourcefulness and dedication, the events included a full agenda of pre-recorded and live sessions and engaging and creative networking sessions while attracting participants from across the country and even internationally.

Another milestone included establishing NEIWPCC’s first internal Justice, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (JDEI) Task Force. Emerging as a need from our All Staff Meeting, the task force provides a platform for staff across our program areas and locations to collaborate on JDEI and environmental justice issues.

The annual report also includes a letter from Executive Director Susan Sullivan thanking our staff for their continued dedication during the COVID-19 pandemic and thoughtfulness in aligning their work to our strategic plan; a thank you to outgoing Executive Committee Chair Mark Klotz; a summary of our quality management program activities; and financial statements from NEIWPCC Comptroller Lucia Walker.
