JETCC’s Hanson Recognized for Providing Outstanding Wastewater Operator Training
On January 26, 2011, at the annual New England Water Environment Association Conference in Boston, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s New England office presented Leeann Hanson with its “2010 Regional Wastewater Operator Training Provider Excellence Award.” Since 1995, Hanson has served as training coordinator for Maine’s Joint Environmental Training Coordinating Committee (JETCC), which is managed by NEIWPCC. JETCC plans, develops, and coordinates training courses for wastewater treatment plant operators and other environmental professionals throughout Maine.
“The professionals providing operator training to wastewater treatment plant operators play a crucial role in protecting public health by ensuring that our lakes and rivers are protected from unnecessary pollution,” said EPA New England Regional Administrator Curt Spalding in an EPA press release about the award. “I am proud to acknowledge Ms. Hanson’s outstanding contributions to help train municipal wastewater professionals so they may be able to better protect water quality and public health, as well as to keep Maine’s waterways clean.”
EPA praised Hanson for doing an outstanding job coordinating all of JETCC’s many efforts and for always being in the forefront in improving JETCC’s course offerings to address new initiatives and technologies facing wastewater professionals. In addition, the agency recognized Hanson’s proactive approach to providing interested and committed municipal wastewater operators with appropriate management training and other personal improvement skills to succeed in the industry in the future.
Hanson was nominated for the award by a number of wastewater professionals in Maine and in New England. For more information about JETCC and its many programs in Maine, visit www.jetcc.org. Congratulations, Leeann!
